Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. Decker's parents moved to Louisiana in the early 1990s. Decker won a regional talent show with a version from Patsy's I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart at the age of barely nine. Decker lived in Georgia at the age of 15 years old. Decker had begun writing songs and making frequent trips to Nashville in search of an agreement with a record label. The songs she wrote were offered to record labels and other artists through a Big Yellow Dog Records agent in her teens. The demos of Decker were reviewed from Mercury Records president David Massey and then handed over to L.A. Reid of Island/Def Jam group affiliated label group L.A. Reid was able to sign Decker to a contract. Her debut album, a self-titled effort under the moniker Jessie James arrived in August 2009. Jessie James had a moderately popular debut album. Wanted, a song from the album reached the Top 40 singles chart. Although Decker was always a country artist the album was released and marketed with a pop audience in minds. Decker's music was under greater scrutinization following the release in the form of two hits. The following track, Boys in the Summer featured a rural feel. Decker's sophomore studio album was released with the name Daughter of a Gypsy, or Sweet American Dreams. Mercury had it shelved and three of her country tracks failed. The album was later canceled.
