The first self-titled effort under the moniker Jessie James arrived in August 2009. Jessie James enjoyed a modest amount of success and Wanted could make it to the Top 40 on the Singles Charts. Decker was always a country artist, however the album released and promoted was designed was designed with the attention of pop fans in mind. After two more singles from the album, Decker struggled with the label's executives to have more control over her music, and her subsequent track Boys in the Summer was an album that was more country-oriented.
